June 5, 2019

1.-New-Glass-Plant

On May 31, we were honoured to welcome the Hon. Minister Lily D’Ambrosio, MP – Victorian Minister for Energy, Environment and Climate Change to officially open Alex Fraser’s Sustainable Asphalt and Glass Recycling Plants – two important steps for Victoria’s circular economy.

The new plants will produce 500,000 tonnes of green asphalt a year, and recycle 1 billion bottles into quality construction sand to build greener roads. They join our one million tonne a year C&D plant at Laverton North to create Victoria’s first integrated sustainable supply hub.

Thank you to our valued customers and supporters for joining us.

You can watch the highlights from the opening event here.

Where this asphalt plant originates it is customary to ring a ceremonial bell to signify the plant’s opening and its first load of asphalt. Thank you to our friends at Ammann for the beautiful bell.

The glass recycling plant will recycle up to a billion bottles into sand each year.

That big mountain to the left is 150,000 tonnes of glass about to be recycled – about 3/4 of a billion bottles.
