Our People

Last month, Alex Fraser attended the 25th Anniversary of the Wyndham Business Awards where we took home the prize in the ‘Industrial Large’ category.

Our Laverton North sustainable materials supply hub was recognised for its contribution to Wyndham’s community and environment. The award winning facility employs 118 people, many of whom live in the City of Wyndham and are all working together to keep waste out of landfill and build greener roads for Victoria.

Over 200 kilometres of roads throughout Wyndham have been paved from our recycled materials, much of which is sourced from wheelie bin waste collected from Wyndham households.  Since 2009, Alex Fraser Laverton has been responsible for diverting almost 10 million tonnes of waste from landfill to build greener roads throughout Wyndham and beyond. We love being part of this vibrant and growing city.

“You all heard about the recycling crisis sweeping through Melbourne. What we’re doing in Laverton is part of the solution. By the end of this year we will have turned around one billion bottles into greener roads for Wyndham and greater Melbourne. This ground-breaking work was pioneered in Wyndham,” said Managing Director Peter Murphy on acceptance of the award.

The judges said, “Alex Fraser brings a very sophisticated and integrated use of various technologies to manage recycling of materials, production of its core material, and management of an extensive fleet of trucks to meet strict deadlines. It is a remarkable leader in business in Wyndham and is at the heart of change in its industry.”

The event was celebrated with over 500 people in attendance representing some 17,000 businesses in the Wyndham region. We thank Wyndham City Council for this opportunity, major sponsor Williams Landing, award sponsor the Commonwealth Bank and our fellow finalists Cummins South Pacific and Ebm-papst A&NZ.

“It’s great to see the efforts of Alex Fraser people recognised by their community,” said Peter.
