Dakabin Goes Green

A new transfer station is underway at Dakabin’s Waste Management Facility in Queensland’s Moreton Bay region. Managed by Hazell Bros, the development provides an important expansion to the community’s waste management approach, which will see more waste reused and recycled rather than landfilled.

Queensland Recycling State Manager Andrew Hooper said Alex Fraser was pleased to be supplying another Hazell Brothers civil project.

“Hazell Bros are a long established family-owned business with a strong track record in civil contracting, concrete and quarrying in Queensland. Over the years, we have compared notes on our crushing operations. It’s good to work together on this project.

“We’ve supplied 26,000 tonnes of sustainable RM003 and RM005 roadbase to develop the base-course of all the new internal roadways,” said Andrew.

Hazell Bros project engineers were initially impressed by the density and cost savings Alex Fraser’s recycled materials offer. They reported reliable supply, responsive customer service, and product performance as key benefits.

Moreton Bay Regional Council has once again supported the use of use recycled material, resulting in better sustainability outcomes on this project; including a significant reduction in associated carbon emission, truck traffic and landfill.

Alex Fraser has worked with Moreton Bay Regional Council over a number of years to supply sustainable materials to a variety of projects including, the development of North Lakes.

By choosing recycled materials on the project Moreton Bay Regional Council and Hazell Brothers Construction saved:

• 26,000 tonnes for landfill
• 77 truck runs
• 170 tonnes of carbon emissions
