Supporting local indigenous students and their environment

Alex Fraser is the key sponsor of the Nudgee Beach Environmental Education Centre’s ‘Deadly Science’ project. The initiative empowers Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander high school students working on country revegetation to gain skills for the workplace and knowledge of conservation and land management.

The sponsorship enables students to complete a Cert II in Conservation Land Management, providing pathways into careers with National Parks and Wildlife and Council Land Management in the future.

Course facilitator Gary said students had excelled with the opportunity Alex Fraser had provided.

“It’s lifted their overall purpose knowing that the industry is backing them to complete their qualification. It was great to see such individual student growth, and their efforts in rejuvenating the local Nudgee Beach Foreshore with native species, nesting hollows and weed control. This ownership of action to create a better environment was an extremely positive step up in their development”, he said.
